At St. Mark’s School, we recognize that the Spanish language is an important part of the learning experience.
Children in Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten attend Spanish on Mondays and Fridays for twenty minutes. We cover basic concepts through song, games, videos and verbal interaction. Some of the units we cover include:
We integrate the vocabulary into basic sentences: “I have the…”, “I like the…”, “Here is the…”
Our first graders have thirty minute lessons bi-weekly as well and they take these units to another level. They are able to express statements of fact and opinion about the vocabulary words. We do a lot of sentence formulation and writing.
For all grade levels we enhance our lessons with the Muzzy Spanish Language Program. The children truly enjoy the videos and games that accompany this curriculum.
