Check your calendars and see if you can be a chaperone/driver to Dr. Bowden’s office February 18. We will leave school at 9:00 and return at 10:30. If I have not received a signed permission slip you will find one attached to this newsletter.
LANGUAGE/PHONICS—New letter Oo—short vowel sound--octopus, review letters covered Aa, Bb, Cc, Ii, Mm, Nn, Pp, Rr, Ss, Dd, Kk, Ff, and Tt; sounding out three letter short a words—cat, man, rat, sat, mat, bat, can, ran; sight words I, can, see, a, the, am, stop,go; tracking print, rhyming words, opposites
MATH—Numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,-- understanding 10 plus one more makes 11, identifying number and counting out that many objects; writing tally marks, measuring with nonstandard units
FINE MOTOR SKILLS—holding writing tools correctly, cutting straight and curved lines, writing strokes go top down, left right, circles are written in a counter clockwise direction, writing last name
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE— The Five Senses
THINGS TO PRACTICE AT HOME—continue practicing writing your child’s last name. Help your child learn the sight words. You will find a little book in your child’s Friday Folder, I SEE—have them read it to you. They need to point to each word as they read with the finger of the hand they write with. I will be sending books like this home weekly. If you practice with your children you will be amazed that they can learn to read.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION—On Thursday Feb. 11th the cafeteria will be closed. If you wish to order Jack in the Box (see attached flyer) on that day please do so. Friday Feb. 12th will be a half day—children are finished at 11:00. We will have our Valentine’s celebration that day. Please send Valentines for every child in the class. You will find a list of names attached. If you are planning to leave children in aftercare please let Ms. Mattie know. There will be no school on Monday, Feb. 15th.
